A ‘corporate Christmas gift’ was delivered to the Amboseli Oltome Women Group in 2015 December.
WildlifeDirect CEO Dr. Paula Kahumbu and Project Manager Robert Milia were in Amboseli to present company registration papers to the Amboseli Oltome Women group for their leaders to sign. Under the guidance of the project manager, the leadership of the women group appended their thumb prints rather than hand signatures because they have no formal education and thus cannot read or write.
Their company is called, the Amboseli Oltome Women’s Company. It has created a platform for them to sell their handicrafts and engage in any other lawful business. This will give them an opportunity to exercise and develop their leadership and entrepreneurial acumen. The ladies were particularly thrilled to learn that they are now empowered and own a company which they will actively manage. WildlifeDirect will continue to offer advice in helping them to run the Amboseli Oltome Women’s Company.
